The Good News in the face of our worst reality
Many see the Bible as a book of moral advice, motivational quotes, or perhaps an ancient book our grandparents read. But its message is far more urgent. The Bible presents us with the worst possible news: that we are separated from our Creator by our own rebellion and sin, a condition we cannot repair by ourselves.
However, it is against that dark background that true hope shines. The Gospel is the news that God, in His infinite love, did not leave us to our fate. He sent His Son, Jesus, to pay the debt we owed and offer us a rescue we do not deserve.
Why memorize these words?
"Because in a world full of lies and distractions, we need the Truth of Jesus Christ to be engraved in our minds. We do not memorize to know more, but because these words are a source of life; they are our guide and help us obey the One who forgave us. By memorizing these words of Eternal Life, our mind rests in a safe place."
